Hollywood and Highland
Let Us be Your Guide to this Attractions Megacenter!
Well things sure have changed at Hollywood and Highland since 1907!
Now the famous corner is home to a 387 000 square foot complex that houses the Grauman's Chinese Theatre, over 75 shops, many top restaurants and the Kodak Theatre, which houses numerous top level acts and the biggest show of them all, the Academy Awards.
The site of the new entertainment centre sits on the same lot that was home to the historic Hollywood Hotel. Famed for being home to some of the biggest stars of the past, such as Rudolph Valentino (room 264).
These days the sprawling complex, which finds architectural inspiration from D.W. Griffith's 1916 movie “Intolerance”, contains too many shops to list! Here's a partial list of the shops that are contained within the 5 levels:
American Eagle Outfitters
- Louis Vuitton
- Lucky Brand Jeans
- Victoria's Secret
- Virgin Megastore
There is also a large spa on the 5th level, Spa Luce. It is housed in the Rennaissance Hotel and offers all general spa amenities, such as facials, massages and manicures. It has a very cool, ultra modern look. Try to book your massage with Natta Kahn!
There are also a plethora of restaurants on offer:
- California Pizza Kitchen
- The Grill on Hollywood
- Koji's Sushi & Shabu Shabu
- Trastevere Ristorante Italiano
- Fresh Fire Kabob
- Green Earth Cafe
- Johnny Rockets
Koji's is one of our favorite restaurants at Hollywood and Highland. It is a fun dining experience, with Shabu Shabu, a hot pot style meal wherein you cook your own portions of meat and vegetables at your table. Your server can do it for you but we like taking control!
One warning though, the service can be a little...relaxed. So give yourself time for a leisurely stay.
Another favorite of ours is Lucky Strike Lanes bowling alley. Swanky bowling with a chique bar flavor. Hit the middle red pin for a free hour. We did it!
Don't Miss This!
A good thing to pick up before you start exploring Hollywood and Highland, is the free Elephant card.
It can be found at a stall on the ground floor in the center of the complex under the elephant statues. It gives you a quick 10-20% off stores and restaurants. (Including 20% off Koji's!)
As we mentioned before, this is also home to the Kodak Theatre, where the Oscars are held every year. It has also played host to big acts such as Celine Dion and Prince.
In fact, you can sign up for a tour of the famous theater. It costs 15$ for adults. 10$ for seniors and teens.
The tour includes a viewing of actual Oscar statuettes, a look at where your favorite stars sat
at last year's ceremony, a peak into the VIP rooms the stars hang out in during the show and more!
You get 3$ off your ticket with your elephant card.
Hollywood and Highland sits directly on top of the Metro Red Line's Hollywood stop. So getting to the attractions is easy!
